Michael Powers is a writer based in Los Angeles, CA. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in the Boston Review, Kenyon Review, New Letters, The O. Henry Prize Stories, The Threepenny Review, American Short Fiction, Bellevue Literary Review, Gulf Coast, and numerous other publications. He holds a PhD in creative writing and literature at the University of Southern California and an MFA in creative writing (fiction) from the University of Houston. Michael has taught writing at colleges and universities across the country, and has received support from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, the Inprint Foundation, the Jentel Arts Foundation and others. He is currently at work on a novel exploring the intersections of public and private grief in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the accelerating climate crisis.
